At 19, Galileo discovered the isochronism of pendulum motion, inspiring the idea of a precise clock he never completed. In 1657, Huygens and Coster realized his vision, creating the first pendulum clock and revolutionizing timekeeping, by reducing the margin of error from several minutes to a few seconds a day.
